Install And Configuration - Network Edition - Server
Server Installation Instructions
To install the Network edition of Maintenance Pro, please run the setup file (it is normally called mpversion_net.exe, for example mp2020_net.exe). If the file is not available, please refer to your original order email for the download link. You can also email us at support@mtcpro.com with the name the software is licensed to and we'll send you a download link.
Note: For the best results, make sure you run the setup file as administrator, and that the windows user you are logged in with has full local admin privileges. You may also wish to temporarily disable your antivirus to prevent it from blocking anything during the install process.
During the installation process you will come across these three installation options:
Client / Server - This is recommended for most server installations. This installs the database service, database files and the program files needed to run the software.
Client Only - This installs the program files only.
Server Only - This installs the database service and database files only. You will not get a Maintenance Pro icon on the desktop to run the software.
Click next. Now you will be prompted for a database location:
The C:\MP_DATA folder is recommended. You do not need to change this, unless you wish to setup the database on a different partition.
If you chose the client/server option earlier, the next prompt will be the Destination Folder for program files. You can accept the default here:
Next, you will see a database connection window. On the server, it will be defaulted to the Data Share Location which you entered a few screens back. No need to change any settings here.
Click through the next few prompts and start the install. When complete, click the Finish button.
If you selected the Client / Server option, you should have an icon on the desktop for Maintenance Pro. Upon opening the program for the first time you will be presented with a registration window. Enter the username and serial number which has been provided to you.
Firewall Settings
Please make sure that ports 12010 and 12011 are open for incoming/outgoing connections to your local area network. You will want to check your Windows firewall and any other firewall or security software you have installed on the server to make sure these ports are open. If the ports are blocked then the workstations will give you an error message whenever they try to connect.
